Spring greening, not cleaning

I've been getting a little antsy recently about the prospect of missing a chance to collect photos of some early blooming local wildflowers for a project I'm working on. Yesterday, to reduce my agitation, instead of cutting down on coffee, I devoted some time to a quick reconnoiter of a nearby Scientific and Natural Area (SNA) at Franconia Bluffs. The part of the world reconnoitered is beginning to green up.

The St. Croix River, at the foot of the bluffs, is high and humming right along.

During the drive home, some white pelicans made one of their infrequent appearances in the area.

Of course, you know that had to lead to this limerick by

A funny old bird is a pelican.
His beak can hold more than his bellican.
Food for a week
He can hold in his beak,
But I don't know how the hellican.
