Minnesota's most recent U.S. senatorial election results, by county, for each of our two senators, are shown below. Red indicates Republican, blue -  Democratic-Farmer-Labor. Darker is more. Minnesota's (internal) county boundaries, all those straight lines, clearly don't align with watershed or other bioregional boundaries although most of the eastern boundary follows Lake Superior and the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers and the northwest boundary follow the Red River. Internal county boundaries represent some of the "boxes" bioregionalism needs to think outside, but counties are how we tally election results at the state level, which brings us to today's bioregional question.
