Here comes the sun

Once again William Gibson's observation on reality, that "The future is already here — it's just not very evenly distributed." is proving its aptness. During recent travels around my home county I've noticed signs (literally) that we're moving into the 21st century and helping minimize global warming while create a more sustainable future economy. I've come across the sites for two solar garden projects, one primarily local and the other part of a multisite mega-project being developed for Geronimo Energy.

The local project is Eichten's Solar Garden, a 1-megawatt system on four acres currently pasturing bison. I think there may be other sites under development, but these two are initial confirmation that here comes the sun lighting our way to a better future.

The Geronimo Energy site, part of a mega-project, is further along and is a turnkey development by Biosar America LLC. At first glance I wondered if it was yet another local vineyard. Not even close.

Neither of these developments should generate much in the way of traffic, I would imagine, nor the kind of noise issues that have been stumbling blocks for some wind turbine farms. It'll be interesting to track construction and see what kind of neighbors they become. Since we started today's posting with a Beatle's title, we'll end it with a similar one and note that renewable energy offers Good Day Sunshine.
