sky-blue asters at roadside

Local farmers are getting organized for harvest season. Hay wagons and other equipment is being hauled over township and county roads. Pumpkins have not yet been sighted at roadside stands but they should arrive over the next couple of weeks. The Better Half has agreed to bake an old-fashioned apple cake with brown sugar frosting sometime in the near future. Autumnal Equinox is one week from tomorrow. Election day is 50 days from today. Finally, I saw a political sign that pretty well captures my current perspective, plus, it makes some sense in these times. For background, look here.
I'm old enough to remember when the Rolling Stones first released this always, and especially now, timely observation: You Can't Always Get What You Want. We would do well to keep it in mind.
It moves my heart to see your awakened faces;
the look of "aha!"
shining, finally, in
so many
wide open eyes.
Yes, we are the 99%
all of us
refusing to forget
each other
no matter, in our hunger, what crumbs
are dropped by
the 1%.
The world we want is on the way; Arundhati
and now we
are
hearing her breathing.
That world we want is Us; united; already moving
into it.
